Privacy Policy

What OtterTrack collects, how it’s used, and the choices you have.

Last updated August 23, 2026

Overview

This policy explains what information OtterTrack collects, how it’s used, and the choices you have. OtterTrack is a music-rating and social app: you log songs, rate them, join groups with friends, and see what people you follow are listening to.

Information We Collect

Account information: your email address and password (used only to sign you in), display name, username, profile photo, and an optional bio.

Content you create: songs you log and rate, genre tags, comments, likes, group memberships and activity, and follow/block relationships.

We do not collect your location, contacts, or browsing history, and we do not use any advertising or analytics SDKs.

How We Use Your Information

To run the app’s core features: showing your ratings and song history, powering your groups and their daily rounds, building your activity feed from people you follow, and showing public activity in Discover. Your profile photo is checked by an automated moderation service before it’s stored, to keep out explicit or graphic images, and text you post (group chat, comments, your bio) is checked against a basic word filter before it’s saved. If you enable notifications, we use a device push token to send you alerts — new comments, likes, follows, and reminders for your groups.

Sharing Your Information

We don’t sell your information. It’s shared only as needed to run the app:

Other users can see what your visibility settings allow: your own song log is visible to people you follow (or everyone, via Discover, if you’ve logged a song), and your profile’s public stats (display name, username, photo, bio, trophies) are visible to any signed-in user.

Your Choices

You can edit or remove your display name, username, photo, and bio at any time from your Profile tab. You can block anyone who bothers you, and report a post, comment, chat message, or shared song you think is objectionable, both from right where you see it. You can turn haptics on or off in Settings, and turn push notifications on or off at any time from your device’s system settings. And you can permanently delete your account and everything tied to it from Settings → Danger Zone, at any time — there’s no separate request process.

Data Retention & Deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. Deleting your account removes your profile, song log, comments, likes, follows, and any groups you admin, permanently and immediately — this can’t be undone.

Children’s Privacy

OtterTrack is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we’ll remove it.

Security

Your data is protected by row-level security rules enforced by our backend on every request, so only you (or whoever your visibility settings allow) can read or change it. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we’ll update the date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
